I knew college was always looming in my future. Initially, the picture was very blurry, but I felt it was what I and many people I knew had to do in order to further my life in a professional sense. It ended up being so worth it for many more reasons.  In my high school experience, I was fortunate enough to have so much support and guidance. Starting in grade nine, my guidance counselor was there to implement coursework where we would explore our personalities and who we were becoming as young men and women. We also delved into what we personally wanted from our post high school lives (i.e. large universities vs. small colleges, liberal arts vs. concentrated majors, big sports vs. intramurals, etc.). Finally, we were escorted through the application process using programs where everything was streamlined, there were deadlines, and any questions we had, our Futures Counselors were right there to guide us.  Yes, I was fortunate to have this experience. However, I am aware that this is not always the case for all, and here at College Scout we want to ensure that this experience can be had by all.  The college experience is such a formative time for young people. It teaches you to give roots to the life you grew up in, and the wings to experiment with the working world, while still having that safety net and institutional based learning set up that many grew up with. Because of this important time in our lives, we must be diligent in making sure that the fit is right for us. I know I had this growing up and am passionate in helping the young people of today to find that right college feel!
